Education & Credentials
Hi, I’m Dr. Heather Miles. My journey in education and psychology began at my dream school, UCLA, but my true "why" was born in a classroom.
Early in my career as a kindergarten teacher, I realized that despite my best efforts, I was consistently missing the mark for about 20% of my students—those in the highest and lowest 10%. This realization wasn't just a professional observation; it was a personal call to action. I knew these students needed more than a standard curriculum; they needed a champion who understood their unique educational and emotional needs.
Driven by that '20%,' I spent the next 14 years expanding my toolkit. I became a School Psychologist and eventually a School Administrator, focusing deeply on special education. Whether I was assessing a single student or supporting staff across 50 different schools, my heart was always in finding the right key to unlock a student’s potential.
The "Detour" That Led Me Home
For years, I told myself that my childhood dream of becoming a child psychologist was a "detour" life had taken. It took a simple, honest dinner conversation with my own children to realize that it’s never too late to finish the journey. Wanting to model the importance of lifelong learning for my daughter, I opened Any Child Can Learn. I even came full circle back to UCLA, where I recently earned my College Counseling Certificate to better bridge the gap between high school success and career fulfillment.
I’ve discovered that the need for tailored support doesn’t end at high school graduation. Whether I’m helping a family navigate a new diagnosis, supporting a college student finding their footing, or guiding a professional in the career world, my mission remains the same: ensuring that every individual has the resources and support to prove that, indeed, Any Child (or Adult) Can Learn.
Let’s connect! I would love to hear your story and help you or your child find the path forward.
